WebEx Postal Policy Discussion

Twenty-three postal stakeholders gathered to discuss the many important issues involving the U.S. Postal Service. These include the Postal Service’s plans to raise first-class mail prices by an average of 7 percent above the rate of inflation and plans to significantly lengthen mail delivery times by reducing first-class mail delivery standards.

These matters are not directly addressed by the Postal Service Reform Act (PSRA), legislation that has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate that would relieve the Postal Service of approximately $46 billion in retiree health care obligations over the next decade. The PSRA would also require more detailed reporting of delivery performance, among additional important changes.
