USPS Seeks To Stem Rise In Mail Theft With New Security Measures

The U.S. Postal Service is installing new locks on some of its traditional blue mailboxes and making it harder to access others as part of a nationwide effort to crack down on mail theft.

The stepped-up security measures are intended to stop a rise in mail-related crimes, including check theft and fraud, change-of-address scams and counterfeit postage, the Postal Service said Friday.
