Postal Service Trying To Catch Up On Late Deliveries

A month after Christmas, the United States Postal Service is still furiously digging through mountains of old letters and overdue packages to get their delivery times back on track.

USPS Pittsburgh spokesman Tad Kelly said on Monday that the postal service has seen record levels of demand over the recent holiday season — about 1.1 billion packages delivered so far and counting — and that staff shortages due to COVID-19, winter storms in the Northeast and capacity challenges with air and trucking have all exacerbated the situation. Meaning that all types of mail, including bills, have been victims of delays.
