Recent Postal Service reports from Ms. Lori Rectanus, Director, Physical Infrastructure Team, U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), and her team address topics such as terminal dues, international mail security and key considerations for potential changes to the U.S. Postal Service’s monopolies. The U.S. Postal Service is also included in GAO’s prominent 2017 High Risk Report.

This year, the U.S. Postal Service is facing a growing number of challenging and serious issues. When the tipping point may occur for these issues remains to be seen along with where consensus can be formulated to identify public policy solutions. In this climate, Congress is likely to rely on the GAO’s expertise and counsel more than ever.
